Let’s admit that just like you have consciousness, you should admit that other men and women, chimps, and other mammals are conscious as well (feminists will surely forgive my ordering of the agents which wasn’t supposed to convey an idea). To claim otherwise really means to deny evolution. Squirrels may have poorer memory and abstract skills, ability to compute and generalize ideas etc., but this inferiority may be classified as “just another technicality”.
When it comes to the truly metaphysical, qualitative aspects of consciousness, squirrels simply have to be analogous to humans because all of us have common ancestors, too (and we’re composed of similar and similarly interconnected cells). To claim that squirrels aren’t conscious means to deny evolution and most of biology, too. There just can’t be a truly metaphysical difference between squirrels and humans.
We shouldn’t stop with squirrels. Biology teaches us that there’s nothing metaphysically different about mammals and there is nothing God-like about our common ancestors (including Jesus Christ if he or He existed, sorry), either. Birds or dinosaurs have to be self-aware, too. They don’t know how to manipulate with the information they are aware of too well but in principle, they must enjoy the analogous spiritual dimensions of consciousness as we do. They really feel well during a nice sunny day, too.
It’s about fear, paralysing self-doubt and above all, inward-looking. It has a veneer of caring but it is chronically selfish and insulated from ordinary people. Consequently, it can’t really relate to sweaty complicated variables like human beings. It simplifies them, abstracts them as objects, little unreal figures, digitised peasants populating the unspoilt pastoral landscape of their worldview. It knows what’s good for us little stick figures running around in meaningless circles.
Once people become objects, you no longer have to think of them as people. That’s why Greens can happily advocate genocidal policies for other people without feeling the pain and therefore kill our weakest and most vulnerable, because the victims are not real. There is only one victim and that’s the environment, and we’re always portrayed as the criminals doing the killing. That is why I fight it.
It’s a bunch of well-heeled inner city dipshits who’ve read a lot…

A guy had some old empty envelopes in his car. He passed a public wastebasket on the way, stopped and threw them in. To his astonishment some time later he received a fine to the amount of 140 euro for: throwing the wrong garbage in a public wastebasket.
What happened was a zealous functionary found the envelopes and with his address on it fined him. Obviously the guy wasn’t happy and went to court in the conviction this was so utterly absurd it couldn’t be true. To his further astonishment and outrage the judge upheld the fine but if he promised to never do it again halved it.
These kinds of absurdities are standard in the nation of rules and regulations. There are so many that it would literally much easier and efficient to just make a law which stipulated things you are actually allowed to do without consequences. It would be a few pages only.
For those who can read Google Dutch here is the link:Fined for throwing trash in the trash
Unfortunately lots of money still is pouring down the drain since governments actively stimulate these wasteful projects. No amount of reason nor facts stand in the way of the religion of perpetual motion
Germany is the world leader in showing how not to generate energy. As energy prices climb due to the steep maintenance cost of ‘renewables’ and their inherent inefficiency citizens will suffer the consequences.
By Paul Homewood
A new state-of-the-art gas-fired power plant in Bavaria, Germany may have to be closed due to lack of profitability.
While the German government paid owner E.ON to keep the Irsching plant open in 2013 in order to secure access to base load generation on a one off arrangement, the continuing crisis in the sector might see the facility closed in 2016.
Dr Dr. Adrian Schaffranietz, Political Affairs and Corporate Communications Officer with E.ON told Power Engineering International, “The economic prospects of the Irsching gas-fired power plant are extremely critical. The changed energy policy environment has marginalized its position in the market to a point where it can hardly recoup its costs. With the market situation having deteriorated further over the last few years, the plant’s continued operation after the end of the present contractual arrangement is at risk.”

Just when you think it doesn’t get any weirder than for example AGW, researchers double down and stretch suspension of disbelief beyond recovery:
Association between Traffic-Related Air Pollution in Schools and Cognitive Development in Primary School Children: A Prospective Cohort Study
Sigh. Read it and weep. This is in the same vein as: “Association between being born and dying” “Association between astrological configuration at birth and life expectancy”.
